Common Areas Around The Inn

The Front Porch

Our front porch is roomy and relaxed and filled with chairs so you can put your feet up and enjoy the trees and the mountains. We are far from the road, so it’s quiet and peaceful. The big grassy front yard is perfect for badminton, Frisbee, touch football or croquet. The kids can play because there is no traffic. Just down the driveway is a pond and the start of the Rooster Comb trail.

Open Year ‘Round

We are open year-round and Trail’s End is an ideal destination in any season. We are just 15 miles from the Olympic downhill mountain and 12 miles from the Olympic cross-country site. Lake Placid, just 18 miles from here, has skating, hockey, ice shows and the kinds of winter activities that Olympians are looking for.

The Breakfast Room

Our breakfast room is sunny and bright and overlooks the side meadow. Start your day with a steaming mug of tea or coffee while watching the birds at the feeders. Breakfast served each morning from 7:30 A.M. to 9:00 A.M. Coffee is available at 6:30 A.M. We have coffee, tea, hot chocolate, hot cider, instant oatmeal and popcorn available after breakfast hours. See the breakfast room link for details about our breakfast selections.

The Study

Adjoining the breakfast room is the study, we have a gift table where you can buy Trail’s End Inn souvenirs (mugs, hats, shirts and lots of other neat stuff) and, of course, hiking and climbing guides, maps and Adirondack maple syrup. There is also a computer with high speed internet access for the use of our guests. WIFI is also available.

The Foyer

Next to the dining room is the foyer which has a woodstove and several places to sit and read. There’s a 3D map of the Adirondacks so you can get a lay of the land. Off the front room is a kitchenette equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, electric kettle and dishes to fix your snacks or store your trail food. Beyond that is the mud room, great for storing packs and skis, plus rest rooms and a shower.

The Living Room

The living room is full of books, a couple of easy chairs and also has a TV screen (sorry no cable) with VHS/ DVD player. We have a nice video collection so you can curl up with a movie. The fireplace keeps you warm and toasty. This is the room to gather in with your friends and other guests to catch-up, plan tomorrow’s hike or just hang out and relax.

The Game Room

In the game room we have a large collection of board games, puzzles and toys. There is a giant chess table and plenty of room to spread out a puzzle or a game. Gather your friends or a few of the other guests of the Inn and enjoy a game of cards or maybe even a game of Twister if you dare! This sunny room is usually quiet during the afternoon making it a nice place to read your email or work.

Backyard BBQ

There’s even a barbecue area in the back where you can cook up a meal. Our grills are available for you to use and you can enjoy your dinner at the picnic tables or at the tables in the game room.
